Policy Work Group Role Description

The Broad Room is an activist training camp. We are building an army of young womxn to take political action and fight back. Since the Trump election, more young womxn are eager to get involved, but the world of activism is often inaccessible and dominated by men. Now more than ever, every young womxn should have the skills and knowledge to take political action — because we know being passively against something just isn’t enough.

We believe in the power of womxn to change the political landscape. We are applying the skills we learn and taking action together. Our free monthly trainings, led by experts in their field, teach our members how to understand and change government. Our weekly action letters include must-know info on key political topics. And our networking events keep our membership engaged and growing.

The Broad Room’s Organizing Committee is an all-volunteer advisory group charged with running many of the organization's programs and services.

We're looking for dynamic, engaged, NYC based activists (or future activist!) to join our Organizing Committee as part of the Policy Work Group (PWG). The PWG sets our Broad Room agenda and platform. They are our in-house experts on issue-based and electoral politics. Each week, they are responsible for selecting the topic, researching and supplying content for our weekly Broad Memo.

Additionally, you’ll be working with the Organizing Committee to design and implement our monthly trainings and create a community of Broads fighting for progressive change.

The ideal candidate is creative, an independent self-starter and works well in teams with an interest in issue-based or electoral activism and organizing.

This role is voluntary and unpaid. The time commitment is about 7-8 hours a month.
