In 2018, we assembled a badass Board of Directors to help guide us into the future, and we want you to meet them - say hello to our fabulous Broad Board!

Jahmila “JJ” Edwards  is the Assistant Associate Director of District Council 37, NYC’s largest municipal labor union. She oversees the Council’s approach to public policy, political operations, strategic campaigns, and community partnerships. She earned her B.A. from The New School, and is currently pursuing her Masters in Labor Studies at UMASS Amherst.

Kemi Ilesanmi  is Executive Director of The Laundromat Project, which advances artists and neighbors as change agents in their own communities. She has previously worked at Creative Capital Foundation and the Walker Art Center. She is a graduate of Smith College, NYU, and Coro Leadership NY. She is a Sterling Network Fellow.

Katharine Offinger  has been a communicator, brander, and marketer for over ten years. She currently works for BerlinRosen, a public relations and strategic communications firm, helping clients build their brands, engage with target audiences, and deliver effective messaging. She is a New Jersey native and lives in Brooklyn with her partner and two children.

Marjorie Velázquez  is a proud Latina born and raised in The Bronx. After her run for City Council in 2017, she has spent most of her time empowering women to get involved in government and politics. A lover of great food, conversation, and company (not necessarily in that order).

Stephanie Yazgi  is an experienced organizer, political strategist, and coalition-builder and trainer who works at the Center for Popular Democracy. With a track record of winning issue and electoral campaigns, she has nearly 20 years of experience in the progressive movement. She earned her B.A. from Boston University and her Masters of Science in Social Work with a minor in Law from Columbia University School of Social Work.
