As of today, 19 candidates have officially thrown their hat in the ring for the Democratic nomination for president. Of that number, 5 are women. While we’d prefer a higher ratio, this is an UNPRECEDENTED number of serious female contenders in the running for the presidency. And yet women are not to be found in the first, second, third, or even fourth place of recent polls. Those spots are filled with the usual lineup of privileged white men. So this week we're talking about "viability" and how that sexist term keeps women down.
